Ephedra in Mahuang may interact with PHENYLEPHRINE in 4-Way Fast Acting
Ephedra has been banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It should not be taken for any reason. In addition, many non-prescription products for colds and allergies contain phenylephrine, which may have side effects that are similar to those caused by ephedra. If ephedra is taken at the same time as phenylephrine, both the effects and the side effects of ephedra may be increased. Side effects such as diarrhea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, shakiness, and vomiting may occur. More serious side effects may include fainting, high blood pressure, seizures, and possibly serious changes in heart rhythm. Ephedra should not be taken - especially by individuals who are taking non-prescription cold or allergy medications that contain phenylephrine. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
