Ginger in Canton ginger may interact with Kava-Kava in Tonga
The use of kava is discouraged due to serious side effects that it may cause. Additionally, the amounts of ginger ordinarily used in cooking are not thought to affect blood clotting very much. However, both ginger and kava contain chemicals that may reduce the blood's ability to form clots. When large, continual doses of ginger are taken with kava, the risk of dangerous bleeding may increase slightly. In general, large, continual doses of ginger and kava should not be taken together. Individuals who take both may need more frequent blood tests to make sure that blood is pressure properly. Those who experience problems may need to stop taking supplemental ginger, kava, or both. You may want to ask your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered minor in severity.
