Quinidine is broken down by the liver. Voriconizole may prevent the breakdown of quinidine by the liver. This could result in an effect on electrical signals in the heart. These signals are responsible for making the heart beat at a regular rhythm. Altering the rhythm of the heartbeat may be dangerous or potentially life threatening. When voriconizole and quinidine are used together, the effect on the heart may be prolonged. Quinidine is not recommended for use by people who are taking voriconizole.
