Known interactions between the following drugs: Cardizem, Diazepam

1 interaction was found for the drugs you selected.

DILTIAZEM in Cardizem may interact with DIAZEPAM in Diazepam
Diltiazem may block the breakdown of diazepam by the liver. This can result in higher blood levels of diazepam in the blood which may increase and prolong side effects from diazepam such as drowsiness and sedation. If these two medications are used together, your doctor may want to lower the dose of diazepam and monitor you closely for prolonged sedation or drowsiness. Alternatively, other medications can be used in place of diazepam to provide sedation. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is well-documented and is considered moderate in severity.
