TACROLIMUS in FK 506 may interact with DILTIAZEM in Cardizem Injection
Diltiazem may block the breakdown of tacrolimus by the liver. As a result, blood levels of tacrolimus may become too high and this could increase the risk for side effects. Potential side effects include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and uncontrollable shaking. More serious or potentially dangerous side effects include an increase in blood pressure, kidney damage, an increase in blood sugar levels (also referred to as "hyperglycemia") that may require treatment, and complications from infections involving the lungs, brain, and skin. If these drugs are used together, your doctor may want to monitor you closely especially when therapy with diltiazem is started or stopped, or when the dose of diltiazem is changed. If you are experiencing problems, it may be necessary to adjust the dose of tacrolimus. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
