Ginger contains substances that affect the ways that the heart uses calcium. Large amounts of ginger that are taken at the same time as drugs like diltiazem, which also affect calcium utilization by the heart, may reault in loss of blood pressure control. Signs of high blood pressure are not usually apparent. Inform your doctor before taking diltiazem with ginger or any other herbal supplement.
