Although the exact causes of this potential interaction are not understood completely, isocarboxamide may increase the effects of amphetamine. In addition, the risk of side effects such as confusion and headaches may also increase. Potentially life-threatening high blood pressure may occur, as well. isocarboxamide and amphetamine should never be taken at the same time. Because isocarboxamide is known to stay in the body for long periods of time, you should wait at least 2 weeks after stopping isocarboxazid before using amphetamine. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible.
