CITALOPRAM in Celexa may interact with CHARCOAL in Charcoal
Citalopram is absorbed into the bloodstream through the gastrointestinal system. Charcoal may reduce the absorption of citalopram into the blood and remove citalopram that is already in the blood, reducing the effectiveness and possibly helping prevent toxic levels of citalopram if too much citalopram is taken. Charcoal is most commonly used as an antidote to remove medications from the blood when too much of a medication is taken or overdosed.
