Known interactions between the following drugs: Celexa, Cyproheptadine

1 interaction was found for the drugs you selected.

CYPROHEPTADINE in Cyproheptadine may interact with CITALOPRAM in Celexa
Both citalopram and cyproheptadine have an effect on serotonin, a chemical that is found in the brain. However, these two drugs work in opposite ways. Citalopram increases the effects of serotonin in the brain, while cyproheptadine blocks serotonin's effects. When these drugs are used at the same time, the effectiveness of citalopram may be decreased. If citalopram and cyproheptadine are taken together, your doctor may want to monitor you to see how well the citalopram is working. If necessary, your doctor may consider stopping therapy with cyproheptadine. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
