CHARCOAL in Charcoal may interact with
MAGNESIUM SALICYLATE in Magan
Charcoal may reduce the absorption of magnesium salicylate from the stomach into the body. Charcoal may also attach itself to magnesium salicylate that has already been absorbed into the body and prevent it from circulating in the blood stream. If this happens, then potentially less magnesium salicylate would be available for the body to use and blood levels could become too low. This could make magnesium salicylate less effective. If these drugs must be used together, magnesium salicylate should be taken at least two hours before or six hours after a dose of charcoal to prevent it from becoming ineffective. Because of its ability to actually remove certain drugs from the blood stream, charcoal is sometimes used in emergency situations to treat a drug overdose. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.
This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
