CHOLINE MAGNESIUM TRISALICYL in CMT may interact with
TRANDOLAPRIL in Mavik
Choline magnesium trisalicylate blocks the production of chemicals known as prostaglandins. Certain types of prostaglandins cause the muscles inside of blood vessels to relax and also promote the elimination of sodium and water by the kidneys, both of which contribute to a decrease in blood pressure. Although it does not seem to directly prevent vasodilation or alter the blood pressure-lowering ability of trandolapril, choline magnesium trisalicylate may lessen the overall benefit of using trandolapril because of its effect on the prostaglandins. Based on information from one study involving a small number of people who took drugs that are similar to choline magnesium trisalicylate and trandolapril at the same time, this does not appear to cause any harmful effects. However, this interaction may be more significant in people with heart disease. If choline magnesium trisalicylate and trandolapril are taken together on a regular basis, your doctor may want to check your blood pressure more often and make sure that your heart is functioning properly. If you are experiencing problems, you may consider using a non-aspirin pain reliever as an alternative to choline magnesium trisalicylate. Your doctor may also consider switching to a drug that is similar to trandolapril but that is less likely to cause problems with choline magnesium trisalicylate.
You may want to ask your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you think you are having problems.
This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
