LEVOFLOXACIN in Levaquin may interact with PROCHLORPERAZINE in Compazine Spansules
Both prochloroperazine and levofloxacin have an effect on electrical signals in the heart. These signals are responsible for making the heart beat at a regular rate of speed. Altering the rhythm of the heart beat may be dangerous or potentially life-threatening. When prochloroperazine and levofloxacin are taken together, the effect of either drug on the heart may be prolonged. Levofloxacin should generally be avoided by people who are taking prochloroperazine. It may be better to use an alternative to levofloxacin to avoid this potential interaction. Ask your healthcare provider about these drugs and this potential interaction as soon as possible.
This interaction is poorly documented and is considered major in severity.
