Sassafras in Ague Tree may interact with Capsicum in Chili Pepper
Taking sassafras by mouth is strongly discouraged because it has been proved to cause liver damage and cancer in laboratory animals. Even when it is only applied to the skin, however, substances in sassafras may promote mild sedation. If it is applied at the same time as another sedating herbal product, such as capsicum, is being used, the risk of excessive drowsiness may increase slightly. In general, even topical sassafras and capsicum should not be used at the same time. If they are used together and sedation increases to a potentially unsafe level, either topical sassafras or capsicum or both may need to be stopped. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is poorly documented and is considered minor in severity.
