Sassafras in Ague Tree may interact with
Melatonin in MEL
Taking sassafras by mouth is strongly discouraged because it has been proved to cause liver damage and cancer in laboratory animals. Even when it is only applied to the skin, however, substances in sassafras may promote mild sedation. If it is applied at the same time as another sedating herbal product, such as melatonin, is being used, the risk of excessive drowsiness may increase slightly. In general, even topical sassafras and melatonin should not be used at the same time. If they are used together and sedation increases to a potentially unsafe level, either topical sassafras or melatonin or both may need to be stopped.
