Melatonin in MEL may interact with
Elecampane in Alant
Both supplemental melatonin and elecampane may lower blood sugar levels. Theoretically, if they are taken together, blood sugar may become too low--a condition called hypoglycemia. Signs of blood sugar that is too low may include feeling weak or shaky, having a headache, or being confused or nervous. Additionally, both supplemental melatonin and elecampane contain substances that may promote sedation. If they are used together, excessive drowsiness, slowed breathing, loss of muscle control, and even coma may result. In general, supplemental melatonin and elecampane should not be taken at the same time. If they are taken together and signs that blood sugar may be too low occur or sedation increases to an unsafe level, then supplemental melatonin or elecampane or both may need to be stopped.
