DIAZEPAM in Diazepam
may interact with ERYTHROMYCIN in Erythrocin
Erythromycin may block the breakdown of diazepam by the liver. If this happens, blood levels of diazepam could be increased and this could cause an increase in side effects. Potential side effects include prolonged sedation, dizziness, confusion, and breathing difficulties. Use caution when driving or performing tasks that require careful attention. If you experience intolerable or otherwise undesirable side effects when erythromycin and diazepam are used together, your doctor may want to adjust the dose of diazepam. Your doctor may also consider using a different drug for either erythromycin or diazepam. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.
This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity.
