Tryptophan in L-tryptophan may interact with Valerian in Valeriana wallichi
Currently, tryptophan is not recommended for use as a dietary supplement. Both tryptophan and valerian contain substances that may promote sedation. If they are used together, excessive drowsiness, slowed breathing, loss of muscle control, and even coma may result. Tryptophan and valerian should not be taken - especially at the same time as valerian. If they are used together and sedation increases to an unsafe level, either tryptophan or valerian or both may need to be stopped. You may want to ask your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you think you are having problems.

This interaction is well-documented and is considered minor in severity.
