INSULIN in NovoLog Mix
may interact with BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE in Pepto-Bismol Maximum Strength
When used together, the blood sugar lowering effects of insulin may be enhanced. Bismuth subsalicylate causes insulin to work more efficiently, which may result in low blood sugar levels. Signs of low blood sugar include sweating, racing or abnormal heartbeat, shakiness, headache, or confusion. If you take insulin and bismuth subsalicylate together, watch for signs of low blood sugar, watch your blood sugar levels and discuss with your doctor the possibility of changing your insulin dose to avoid low blood sugar. Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems.
This interaction is well-documented and is considered moderate in severity.
